Annoyance ratings, as obtained at the beginning of the experimental session (Initial Ratings) and at the end of the experimental session (Final Ratings). Annoyance ratings averaged across participants are plotted for the two questions asked (Experience Annoyance: booms judged as they were perceived in the experiment/Imagined Annoyance: booms judged as if participants were experiencing them in their home), and for the three room conditions. Error bars represent 95% confidence intervals.
