Simulated cross-sections. The upper panel shows the different cross-sections calculated using the BEM, distinguished by color. The main difference is the height of the shoulder above the surroundings. The x at 0 m indicates the position of the tire, the crosses indicate the microphone positions close to the groove and at immission distance. The lower panel shows the comparison of the measured and the static simulated transfer function. The transfer function is defined here as the spectral difference of the single-groove measurements at 1 m and 25 m, the latter in the two adjacent rumble strip cross-sections.
