The general approach shown in Figure 1 extended with the model-based measurement steering. The calculation of the likelihood is carried out after every trial, to call up the predefined termination criterion. As long as this is not fulfilled, the next stimulus is calculated, simulating the next trial by adding all possible stimuli s_i to data d. For every simulated stimulus, a likelihood function with the associated standard deviations is also determined in the simulation and the stimulus that leads to the smallest standard deviation of parameter estimates will be presented next.
